FVRC currently has a need for a
Individual
and Family Counselor
Overall Goal:
To be an effective member of the FVRC team. Each person’s position fulfills an important

communities and empowering individuals and families to heal from domestic and
sexual violence.

Basic Function: To provide therapeutic services to individuals and families who have experienced domestic violence or sexual assault in order to promote long-term healing from the effects of violence. The Individual and Family Counselor will provide education and information to those who are navigating the legal system and to the Chatham County community regarding domestic violence and sexual assault and available options for those experiencing violence in their lives.
Ø Conduct individual and
family psychosocial assessments for individuals and families experiencing
domestic violence and/or sexual assault in the Chatham County area. The location of the assessments will be
established with consideration to the client’ location and transportation.
(i.e. schools, Siler City office, other community agencies, client’s home)
Ø Provide therapy for Chatham
County residents and their families who have experienced domestic violence
and/or sexual assault. The location of the sessions will be established with
consideration to the client’s location and transportation.
Ø Provide therapeutic services
with emphasis on the effective coordination of resources with other programs in
order to provide comprehensive services, which maintain the respect and dignity
of the agency’s clients. Provide
trauma-based counseling, parent child interaction therapy and other treatment
models as appropriate.
Ø Maintain accurate and
current records on all clients as required by the agency and its funding
sources.
Ø Provide
consultation/education to agencies and organizations that serve survivors of
domestic and sexual violence or express interest in receiving information
regarding this population as approved by the Executive Director.
Ø Enhance professional
expertise by seeking out and attending approved seminars and workshops that
focus on providing therapy to domestic and sexual assault survivors.
Ø Maintain professional
credentials and/or licensure requirements of the counselor’s specific field of
human service provision if this status has been reached.
Ø Complete in a timely fashion
all necessary weekly and monthly records that pertain to service provided, time
and attendance, travel and workshop reimbursement, continuing education, which
is received of provided, and other records deemed appropriate by the agency.
Ø Maintain strict adherence to
the professional code of ethics that govern the therapist’s academic discipline
of field of human service delivery.
Ø Attend civil court processes
as necessary to assist clients in caseload.
Ø Ability to work
independently as well as part of a team
Ø Excellent written and verbal
communications skills
Ø Commitment to nonviolent
family values and ending domestic and sexual abuse
Ø Ability to work well with
diverse populations – good people skills
Ø Basic computer skills
Reporting:
The support
group coordinator will report to FVRC’s Co-Executive Director focusing on
intervention.
Minimum Requirements: A Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field.
